About
The primary record, read every morning
OnlineJourno BizWatch is a global markets and business desk with a Global South point of view. It turns the raw record — central banks, securities regulators, trade and development bodies, and the Western institutions whose decisions land on the rest of the world — into a daily brief that asks one question of every item: what does this mean for the Global South, its economies, people, governments and negotiating positions? Not a rewrite of the news: the source itself, before it is news anywhere.
Why it exists
The commodity layer — summarising the day's headlines — is collapsing into the answer engines. The durable value is the primary record: what a regulator, court or exchange actually published, monitored systematically and read with judgement. BizWatch is an instrument for that record, not a headline machine.
How to read it
- Brief — the composed daily digest of what moved in the markets and business record, every item linked to its primary source.
- Sources — the registry. It privileges central banks, securities regulators, trade blocs and development bodies across Africa, Latin America and Asia; feeds that cannot be read yet are shown, not hidden.
- Graph and Ledger (invite-only) — the part that compounds: actors resolved across sources over time, and promises on the record tracked to their outcome. Ask for access.
Honest about the preview
This is a working preview. It runs today on open feeds — among them the central banks of Kenya, Mauritius, Brazil, Colombia, India and Sri Lanka, the AfCFTA, ECOWAS, COMESA and ASEAN secretariats, the WTO, and the Federal Reserve and SEC. Coverage is thinnest in the Middle East, where no official body we tried publishes an open, current feed; bodies that block automated reading are registered but not yet wired. Briefs are composed by an AI model and carry a “not yet reviewed by an editor” note — they demonstrate the instrument, not finished editorial. The tool advises; it never decides.
